As the SPCA International site will advise you, when picking out or designing a crate, you’ve got to make sure it’s the perfect size for your dog. That means long enough for them to normally lay down.

Having a dog crate or carrier for your pet is sometimes really important. Whether you travel with them a lot, or you end up having to leave them inside when you leave the house, you’ve got to make sure that it’s comfortable for them. Otherwise you’re just being cruel to your dog.

Anything smaller than that borderlines on cruel, because then your dog can’t move normally. That can lead to all sorts of problems, especially muscle atrophy, and that’s not something that you want.

Another standard for the crate or carrier that your dog is going to be using is of course making sure that it’s strong. You’ve got to be sure that this structure is safe, so that your dog will feel safe. A nonprofit known as SPCAI provides great guidelines about this.

If this is meant for travel especially, it’s got to be built very strong. That means ensuring that it’s featuring solid metal or hard plastic construction that the dog can’t move as it shifts around.

But of course there are also ways that you can volunteer your time and your efforts. That means doing what you can for the cause, so that you can help them accomplish their goals without them having to pay.

Finally, you want to make sure that you of course have the essentials like a leash, as well as collars, and then of course vaccination records as well as a first aid kit. All are necessary to make sure your pet will be safe.
